Overview

As part of the Mercury benefits package, you have the opportunity to take advantage of additional programs that can help save you money and provide important assistance with everyday needs. Voluntary benefits include supplemental medical plans, legal plans, and pet insurance.

Key features at a glance

Supplemental medical plans provide:

image
  • Cash benefits that you can use to pay expenses not covered by your primary medical coverage.
  • Flexibility to spend your benefit payment on whatever costs you’re facing, including medical bills, transportation costs, child care fees, and daily living expenses. In addition, all supplemental medical plans provide coverage for COVID-19 immunization and testing.
  • Financial protection against the high costs often associated with accidental injuries, a serious illness, or a hospital stay.
  • An inexpensive way to supplement a high-deductible health plan, giving you a cost-effective package of coverage that may minimize your overall medical expenses.
Keep in mind

On their own, supplemental medical plans don’t provide comprehensive medical coverage for your day-to-day health care needs. Rather, they’re intended to supplement the coverage provided by your primary medical plan.

Your Mercury voluntary benefits

Critical Illness Insurance

Critical illness coverage protects against the financial impact of certain illnesses, such as a heart attack, cancer, or stroke. If you experience a covered illness, you receive a lump-sum benefit payment to help cover out-of-pocket expenses for your treatment that are not covered by your medical plan. In addition, you can use the money to take care of other expenses, such as housekeeping services, special transportation, and childcare. You can also get a $50 incentive annually for a wellness treatment, health screening test, or preventive care benefit.

You may choose from the following coverage options:

Coverage Level Coverage Amount
Team member $5,000; $10,000; $15,000; or $20,000
Spouse/registered domestic partner May be covered at up to 50% of your chosen benefit amount
Child(ren)* May be covered at up to 50% of your chosen benefit amount

Benefits are paid directly to you, up to twice per year, unless assigned to someone else.

For more information, visit Cigna or call 800-754-3207. You can enroll as a new hire or during Open Enrollment.

You can enroll or change your coverage amount only as a new hire or during Open Enrollment. No evidence of insurability (EOI, also known as proof of good health) is required. In the event of a critical illness, you can use this money in any way you choose.

Accident Insurance

Accident insurance supplements your primary medical plan by providing cash benefits in cases of covered accidental injuries. You can use this money to help pay for medical expenses not paid by your medical plan (such as your deductible or coinsurance) or for anything else (such as everyday living expenses).

You can receive a cash benefit for:

  • Initial care and emergency care benefits
  • Hospitalization
  • Dismemberment
  • Dislocation or fracture
  • Intensive care
  • Medical expenses
  • Outpatient physician’s treatment
  • Health Screen Test and Preventive Care Benefit

The actual benefit amounts depend on the type of injuries you have and the medical services you need. Benefits are paid directly to you, unless assigned to someone else.

You can enroll or change your coverage amount only as a new hire or during Open Enrollment. No evidence of insurability (EOI, also known as proof of good health) is required.

Hospital admission $1,000 per day $500 per day
Hospital chronic condition admission $50 per day $50 per day
Hospital stay $100 per day $100 per day
